Health workers in Bugweri district with support from the community have protested over non-payment of their salaries for over 4 years.
The protest that occurred yesterday 4th August saw activities in Minani HC III in Namalemba Sub County, Bugweri district paralyzed with patients idling around the compound helpless.
Katamba Corallines and Nakiranda Lydia who led the protest said since they began working in Minani HC III in 2017, they haven’t received any salary as promised by the district leaders.
They threw tree logs, stones in the road leading to the HC before burning motor vehicle tyres thereby blocking access to the Health Center.
The protesters accused the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Bugweri district, Mukose Jonathan for repeatedly failing to respond to their concern.

The District Health Officer (DHO) Bugweri, Peter Muwereza said he was aware of his staff’s concern but hastened to add that the matters was beyond his office.
