Capt. Mike Mukula who is contesting to retain his NRM National Vice Chairman Eastern seat has allegedly hatched plans to rig the 18th August CEC elections.
According to impeccable sources whose identities are concealed for obvious reasons, Mukula yesterday 12th August, 2020 met a number of NRM Administrators at Bilkon Hotel, Jinja.
According to the source, Mukula implored the Administrators to declare him winner arguing that no one will sack them. He also assured them that no one will go to court over CEC elections.
Our source who attended the meeting in her capacity as one of the administrators told eastnews.co.ug that Mukula asked them to appoint friendly agents.
It is the mandate of the administrators to appoint all Candidates’ agents at district levels.
Mukula is facing the stiffest challenge for this position from the Tororo based business mogul, Sanjay Tanna.
His chances of bouncing back are getting slimmer by the day with most delegates accusing him of failing to meet them for all the 17 years he has been in the position.
In Karamoja, delegates swore not to vote for incumbent CEC members unless they show accountability for the 17 years. They accused some CEC candidates of moving with choppers for campaigns yet the Party offices are not operational; no rent, no electricity, no office furniture etc.
Delegates are also accusing the Mukula’s of failing to ensure that their Party Chairman who is also the President fulfills his pledges to NRM Sub County Chairpersons. They say the President assured them that the Party was going to give each Sub County Chairperson, a motorcycle to ease mobilization.
Just over the weekend, Teso NRM Historicals endorsed Sanjay Tanna as their sole candidate saying Mukula who is a son of the soil has disappointed them.
