Kumi Boss Roots For Traditional Food To Boost Immunity Against Covid– 19

The communities across Teso sub region have been urged to feed on traditional and indigenous foods in a bid to boost their body immunity as another measure of fighting covid 19.

 

The call was raised by Christine Apolot, the LC5 chairperson Kumi district local government in a telephone interview with our reporter following the increasing cases of community transmission of covid19 in Uganda and Teso in particular.

 

Apolot emphasizes on the need for people to embrace and embark on eating foods and fruits like bitter lemons, carrots, millet porridge, and cucumbers among others which boosts their immunity to resist against the virus.

 

She however cautioned people to observe all the standard operating procedures issued by the Ministry of Health such as putting on face masks, social distancing, and use of hand-sanitizers among others to combat the spread of the virus.

 

According to Dr. Wilson Etolu, the focal point person covid19 task force in Teso, as of yesterday, the 1st October 2020, Teso Region had registered a total number of 89 confirmed cases of covid19 patients who are admitted at Soroti regional referral hospital and are undergoing treatment.
