Hon. Connie Galiwango has been successfully nominated by the Independent Electoral Commission to contest for the Mbale City Woman Member of Parliament.
The nomination however came along with a lot of drama.
Speaking to this reporter, Galiwango revealed that she was not sure whether she would be nominated.
“I spent my night in Kampala when I discovered that my nomination was not going to be successful or it was going to be blocked. I therefore tactfully traveled and slept in Kampala from where I came this morning for nomination,” Galiwango revealed in an off the cuff remark.
She added that indeed this morning, she discovered that police had been deployed at her residence in Mbale City, the purpose for which she was yet to ascertain.
Galiwango who opted to stand as an independent against her erstwhile nemesis, Lydia Wanyoto who took the NRM flag stunned this reporter when she revealed further that even her husband, Hassan Wasswa Galiwango was not aware of her nomination.
Connie Galiwango is among the few NRM legislators who voted against lifting the Presidential age limit Cap. Since then, Galiwango claims she is living in fear as many anonymous people keep threatening her.
By the time of filing this story, attempts at getting a comment from the Regional Police Spokesperson to confirm allegations that police had deployed at Galiwango’s home had not yielded fruit.
