The Gunners defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the Premier League’s seventh game-week, thanks to a second-half penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mohamed Elneny started the game alongside new signing Thomas Partey in midfield as the Egyptian managed to remain on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.

He has now made his ninth appearance this season across all competitions for Arsenal since his return from a loan spell at Besiktas last year.

Speaking about the victory, Elneny revealed that Arteta’s plans paid dividends as they guided Arsenal to their first win at Old Trafford in the Premier League since 2006.

“Arteta is very good at studying the opposition,” Elneny told beIN Sports. “He gave us instructions on how to close down the spaces against Manchester United before the game to avoid what happened to Paris Saint-Germain and Leipzig recently.

“We are happy with the victory today because we won for the first time at Old Trafford since 2006 and it comes after two consecutive losses against Manchester City and Leicester.

“am happier about the performance and I thank all my teammates for the level they performed at today. We came here to win all three points and nothing else.”

“I am confident in my abilities, and I do not care about the identity of the competitor as much as doing the best I can and what is always required of me on the pitch,” he added.

Arsenal have now moved to ninth in the Premier League table with 12 points after seven games played, just a point away from fourth place.

Their next game will be against at home against Molde FK in the third round of the UEFA Europa League’s group stages on Thursday, November 5th.

Meanwhile, Paul Pogba has owned up to his ‘stupid mistake’ after he gave away a penalty in Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted the second half spot kick for the Gunners as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side struggled despite entering the match on the back of a thrilling 5-0 victory against RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek.

The French midfielder admitted the team’s performance was not good enough and he took responsibility after tripping Hector Bellerin inside the box, leading to the penalty that sealed the game.

Pogba was reflective after the match, as he explained that defending inside the box is not one of his strong assets and that he plans to improve.

He added: ‘When you try to touch the ball before the guy, I felt like I touched him a bit. I knew I was in the box and I knew it would be a mistake.

‘At the end, I shouldn’t give a penalty like that. I should let him take the ball and try to block the cross.

‘Maybe I was bit out of breath because of the running just before and that made me do this stupid mistake. I will learn from that.

‘I am not the best defensively in the box and I have to work on this. I can always improve on that.’
