The second day of presidential candidate nominations has been full of drama.
Patrick Amuria Oboi (POA), the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate was arrested by heavily armed police at about 10:15AM just as he was entering their Najanakumbi headquarters.
Immediately after the arrest, nobody knew was Amuriat was whisked to. Many started speculating that the FDC candidate could have been hijacked.
However a few minutes after the arrest, Amuriat was seen being delivered to Kyambogo where the nominations are taking place. He also looked ragged and exhausted.
Amuriat was also delivered without shoes; the presidential candidate only had socks on.
An angry Amuriat later told the press that his nomination was getting hiccups because he did not have his nomination papers, his seconders were nowhere to be seen neither did he know where they were.
“It is annoying that I can be harassed this way. A presidential candidate to be treated like a nobody is indictive of the kind of democracy we have in Uganda.” A furious Amuriat said inside Kyambogo nomination grounds.
POA was also unaware of the whereabouts of his 10 supporters.
Amuriat who is programmed to be nominated at midday ended up reaching the nomination grounds before Robert Kyagulanyi, a.k.a Bobi Wine who reached shortly afterwards at 10:35AM.
Earlier, Ibrahim Semujju, the FDC Spokesperson was reported arrested at him Kira based home.
