MBALE
Old boys and girls of Mbale School of the deaf have petitioned the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga to have the head teacher transferred.
In the petition, the old students accuse Rose Nelima of placing a one Joseph Mubulwama on the school’s board of governors committee representing them yet he is not an old student of the school.
According to education Act 2008 section 3 [f] ‘’one representative of old students will be elected to the board of governor committee.’’
They further accuse Nelima of illegally terminating 80 staff without first consulting them when the latter demanded their unpaid arrears of over seven months.
Deo Imalingat, the chairperson of old students at Mbale school of the deaf told this website that they want Kadaga to help them to ask the Ministry of Education and Sports to transfer the headteacher since she is making the school collapse.
However, our efforts at getting a comment from Rose Nelima were futile by press time as she did not pick our repeated calls.
