The West Budama South MP Jacob Markson Oboth has written off all the court costs slapped on his political opponent, Dr. Emmanuel Otaala.
The costs arose from the 2011 electoral petition case where Otaala challenged his victory in court.
Oboth took the decision on Monday, 23rd November 2020 as a way of solidifying their reconciliation that happened a few weeks ago.
Oboth, who had been in bitter rivalry with Otaala for years are now even sharing a cup tea.
Recently, Oboth’s lawyers wrote to Otaala demanding him to clear the 2011 court cost totaling to 33 million.
In response, Oboth said he could not make Otaala pay him any money after a long awaited reconciliation move and pledged to pay his lawyers money they are demanding Otaala.
Oboth apologized to Otaala for the inconveniences caused by the lawyers arguing that it was done out of his knowledge.
It all happened at Mamiki apartments in Tororo Municipality where Oboth as well asked the people of West Budama South to vote Otaala since he has the ability to steer this district like he has ever done before.
Oboth said with Otaala in West South, Odoi Fox in West Budama North East, Apollo Yeri Ofwono in the Municipality, Ochai Max in West Budama South and Okea as the LCV chairperson, he sees Padhola becoming unstoppable in fronting their interests.
He revealed that it was the reason; they together with the cultural institution demanded the creation of more constituencies so that the Adhola people can have more representatives in Parliament.
Upon hearing the financial relief move, Emmanuel Otaala encouraged the spirit of forgiveness saying it will help champion unity.
He asked the general public to dismiss earlier rumors that went viral since the lawyers were working in their own capacity minus getting directions from Oboth Oboth.
The Tororo municipality MP who is also the chairperson of flag bearers in Tororo district, Apollo Yeri Ofwono appreciated the gesture stating that it’s only through unity and forgetting the past that NRM can become great in the district.
Tororo district speaker, John Okea and a candidate in LCV race who was a witness in the reconciliation said development can never take place in a district where leaders are not united.
