The National Resistance Movement party Vice chairperson for Eastern Region has lashed at people in Teso who are misleading the public to involve in bad politics.
Hon. Flight Captain Mike Mukula who warned such persons to desist from inciting the Iteso in the name of changing power, said this over weekend.
According to Mukula, Teso experienced a number of tough situations from a series of internal wars that included the Uganda People’s Army war, Lord Resistance movement, Karamojong insurgency and poverty.
He said all these brought poverty in the region and insecurity by then and currently the region is still in recovery process.
Mukula added that the people from Teso should unite and embrace development.
He raised this while addressing the NRM flag bearers in Teso and Local council one chairpersons over the weekend.

LASPNET holds Legal aid Day in Soroti
The Legal aids Service providers network (LASPNET) in partnership with National Social Security Fund (NSSF) on Thursday 25th held their open legal aid day in Soroti city.
The event marked the beginning of their 16 days activism against gender based violence under the theme: “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, and Collect!”
LASPNET is a non-governmental organization is an umbrella of over 55 organizations bringing justice to the poor and vulnerable by providing lawyers and Para legals who handle alternative dispute resolutions in societies.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off every 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
Dr. Sylvia Namubiru Mukasa, the executive director LASPNET Uganda said that the legal open day is also a platform to make legal aid accessible and employee rights nearer to the people.
According to Uganda Bureau of Statistic 2019 report, Gender Based Violence in all its manifestations; physical, sexual, Female Genital Mutilation, emotional and psychological remains critical in human rights, public health and economic development.
The report further indicates that GBV is perpetrated against men, women, boys and girls. However, the vast majority of cases reported are against women and girls in Uganda.
Meanwhile, LASPNET is set to have a virtual launch of its mobile call center to manage cases against Gender based Violence.
According to Namubiru, the mobile call center shall be available to people and each time one calls, they will respond for action in terms of protecting and rescuing victims of Gender Based Violence.
