BUGWERI
The new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Bugweri has in an ongoing headcount discovered 10 ghost workers.
While speaking to this website, Nelson Kirende noted that these only reported on duty for only 2 days and disappeared thereafter.
Kirende further noted that some of these were appointed in 2017 from Iganga, and others in 2019 and they have been getting salary.
It should be remembered that the newly gazetted Bugweri district used its mother district’s service commission, Iganga to appoint workers before getting its independent commission.
Kirende who withheld the ghost names stressed that among them are 3 teachers from the primary schools of Nawampendo and Kalalu Church of Uganda in Buyanga Sub County, 2 Laboratory health workers and a porter at Kisozi Health Center III, and a Parish chief.
“And some of the teachers are primary seven teachers! Pupils are at school and they’re not there!” he fumed.
He has since summoned the in-charges and their supervisors to elucidate more. He also revealed that he stopped salary payment to the 10.
