TORORO
Police in Tororo district is stranded with a body of a woman who perished in the Monday accident at Malaba River in Tororo – Busia border.
According to the Tororo District police commander, Rodgers Chebene, four people instantly perished and 6 others are nursing wounds at Tororo main hospital.
The DPC says the vehicle was from Busolwe heading to Busia but due to unclear reasons it rammed into the bridge.
It’s is also reported that due to overloading, the taxi used shortcut routes to Busia.
Charlotte Ndyhabwe, the Tororo district Officer in charge of traffic, said police has successfully handed over three bodies of persons who perished in the accident.
She revealed that one body of an unidentified woman between 23-26 years has never been claimed by anybody.
The OC says they are now stranded with the body at the municipal mortuary. She calls upon the relatives to show up or else police buries the victim at the municipal cemetery.
Earlier, the DPC also instituted a body comprised of police officers to search if there was any body that drowned into river Malaba.
But according to the OC traffic, the team did not find anybody in the river though some people believe the taxi had carried 10 people on top of what was reported.
