SERERE
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) MP flag bearer for Serere County is currently being grilled by security agencies for allegedly flouting Covid-19 guidelines.
Phillip Oucor is this afternoon at Serere Central Police Station where the Serere RDC, Geoffrey Okiswa is chairing a meeting together with the Serere District Police Commander Edgar Akankwasta over allegations that Oucor held illegal rallies in Kateta Sub County on Tuesday.
According to Serere RDC, the meeting being held at Serere Central Police Station is aimed at asking the MP aspirant to stop violating the COVID-19 guidelines and follow his campaign schedule or else risks being blocked from holding rallies.
But Oucor during a Tuesday night interview with our reporter at his home in Olio blamed police for blocking him from speaking to his supporters yet they are silent when his posters are being defaced and vandalized by his opponents.
Meanwhile, a section of voters in Serere County are accusing Oucor for voter bribery and disobeying the Electoral commission campaign schedule.
Philip Oucor is being accused of buying voters local brew (Ajon) and Waragi in order to manipulate and win their favor for votes.
It’s evident in pictures that, before holding his rally in Abongobong Village in Kateta Sub County on Tuesday, voters were seen taking local brew in a huge number while shouting his name without any observance of the Ministry of health standard operating procedures.
Julius Olupot, one of the Voters in Serere claims the MP aspirant bribed voters by giving them to drink ajon yet it’s against the electoral laws of the country.
Olupot says the actions by the NRM candidate are regrettable and calls for tough actions taken against the MP aspirant.
“You can’t imagine we have two people nursing injuries at Serere Health Centre IV because of these actions by the MP,”added Olupot.
It must be understood that, on Tuesday two people identified as Sarah Amuge 23, and Joan Adongo both residents of Kateta sub-county sustained injuries while in the campaign trail of Oucor.
Margaret Akia also blames the MP Aspirant for holding a huge number of voters contrary to the set Electoral commission guidelines of only having 200 voters in every venue.
