Chelsea will keep hold of Callum Hudson-Odoi in the January transfer window despite the youngster’s lack of Premier League action.
The talented 20-year-old winger has found himself down the pecking order and was left out of the squad for the two most recent games against Leeds and Tottenham.
According to the Athletic, Chelsea will still ignore offers for him next month despite Hudson-Odoi’s ambition to make the England squad for next year’s delayed Euros.
And they will ignore any approaches again as Frank Lampard wants Hudson-Odoi as cover in the title race with Chelsea two points behind Liverpool and Tottenham.
Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are all enjoying game time on the wing but Lampard is fearful that a couple of injuries could leave him short.
Hudson-Odoi has only played 14 minutes in the Premier League in the last five games and been given one start since the domestic campaign began.
Ziyech picked up an injury against Leeds in Chelsea’s 3-1 win and his absence has only firmed up the club’s resolve to keep hold of their academy graduate.
Hudson-Odoi signed a five-year deal last year so there is no pressing reason contractually why the Stamford Bridge outfit would be pressured to let him go.
He has settled for Champions League game time, starting three times in the competition so far and is expected to have another outing on Tuesday night against Krasnodar.
However, it remains to be seen how much of a fuss the burgeoning talent will make if he continues to be denied opportunities in the Premier League and should the situation change, there would be plenty of suitors.
