Uganda Registration Services Bureau Gets New Boss

The Board of Directors at Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has appointed Ms Mercy K. Kainobwisho as the Registrar General.

 

Ms Kainobwisho’s appointment follows the departure of Mr Bemanya Twebaze who was recently elected the Director General, Africa Intellectual Property Organisation.

 

A statement issued yesterday by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance said Ms Kainobwisho emerged the successful candidate after beating seven others during internal interviews on December 2.

 

The 41-year-old lawyer previously served as the director of Intellectual Property at URSB, head of Business Services Bureau and manager of Intellectual Property.

 

 

 

WHO IS KAINOBWISHO?

 

Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho is a qualified, competent and experienced female Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with 15 years’ experience specializing in Intellectual Property Business and company Law.

 

She has extensive experience in business, company and intellectual property laws and practice in Uganda and has participated in the development and reviewing of laws relating to intellectual property, business registration and company incorporation.

 

Kainobwisho holds a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property (LLM) from University of Turin, Italy; a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Makerere University Business School, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University (LLB), Uganda, Post graduate Diploma in legal Practice from the Law Development Center, Uganda and several post graduate trainings including oil and gas, leadership and management.

 

Kainobwisho is currently the Director of Intellectual Property having successfully served as the Director Business Registration at Uganda Registration Services Bureau.

 

She has previously worked as a Manager of Intellectual Property at URSB, a State Attorney with Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and a Legal Assistant in charge of Intellectual Property and Commercial Transactions at Shonubi Musoke & Co Advocates.

 

Kainobwisho is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the Uganda Women Lawyers Association, East African Law Society and Rotary International.
