Stakeholders in Teso have expressed their dismay over the manner in which the Directorate of Public Prosecution is handling criminal cases in the region.

The concerns were raised yesterday 10th December 2020 during a convention held by Teso Anti-Corruption Coalition to mark the international anti-corruption day at Timisha Hotel.

Proscovia Acham, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Abim District said so many cases have been frustrated by the regional office of DPP Soroti in connivance with the Resident State Attorney, and Police in Abim.

According to Acham, Abim District has registered over one hundred cases of corruption whose suspects they could produce with all the necessary evidence to prosecute but none has been reprimanded.

She narrated a case in point where an official stole a generator meant for the District and was discovered in one of the bars belonging to a prominent person in Soroti.

Acham also revealed a case about Nusaf 3where 88 million was embezzled in Abim and the case was twisted under theft.

Vincent Ochen, the Executive Director Sugur Development Agency said the trend has caused injustices in Teso and called for a concerted effort from all stake holders.
