Two Excited New Year Revelers Die In Motorcycle Accident

IGANGA

Two people died instantly while two others were rushed to hospital in critical condition after a motorcycle they were moving on lost control and hit a metallic sign post along the main Iganga to Mbale highway.

 

The incident happened at around 11 30 p.m on Saturday night at Bukoona village ten kilometers along the Iganga to Mbale highway as the four were heading back home from Iganga town drunk.

 

 

The deceased were identified as Juma Kasada and Henry Balipamki while the injured who were rushed to Iganga main hospital in critical condition are John Bogere and Falid Mukose, both residents of Nawangisa village Bugweri.

 

According to an eyewitness, Sula Isiko, a security guard, the driver of the motorcycle who is among the deceased lost control and rammed into the road side metallic sign post after an oncoming vehicle flashed full lights upon discovering that they were moving  on the wrong direction of the road at a terrific speed.

 

Isiko said the accident could have been avoided if the four were moving on the right direction and slowly.

 

 

Broken bottles of beer and waragi were discovered at the scene of the accident.

 

The district police commander Iganga, Kenneth Muheirwe urged motorists to avoid drink driving.
