Bob Mushikori, the Masaba cultural leader also known as Umkhuka II has passed on.
The Umkhukha was pronounced dead in the evening of 4th January 2021. By the time of filing this report, the body was still lying at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
According to Matthias Nabuteri, the Deputy Prime Minister of Masaba Cultural Institution, Mushikori died from his home Monday evening after battling with sickness since last month.
Nabuteri declined to give the media the real cause of the death saying that he will give detailed information after doctors have released an official postmortem report.
Mushikori was installed as Masaba cultural institution in 2015 after replacing Wamimbi Weyasa but his five year term ended in December last year where they elected Amulamu Wagabyalali who has not yet been installed.
The deceased was born in 1949 in Bushika Sub County, in the now newly created district Bududa district.
Mushikori went to Bushika Primary School for his primary education and later joined Nabumali High for Secondary Education. He proceeded to College of East Africa for Tertiary Education.
On his return to Uganda, he joined Uganda Railways where he worked as a Commercial Officer. Mushikori was one of the many Ugandans who faced the wrath of former President Idi Amin Dada.
The late’s family is based in Canada and are yet to travel for burial.
