The former Tororo Municipality MP and the Eastern Uganda National Vice Chairperson Contestant for the ruling National Resistance Movement Party Hon. Sanjay Tanna has joined the people of Teso and Uganda People’s Congress Party to mourn the demise of their National Party Chairman.

Lawrence Okae died on Monday morning at Naguru Hospital where he had been admitted after developing an illness.

In a statement to our reporter, Tanna who also doubles as the Chief Executive officer of Tan Group of Companies said that Teso sub region and UPC fraternity has lost an icon, a strong pillar that was proud to be identified as an Etesot and strong UPC member.

Tanna said the late Okae’s life was full of courage and determination that kept him serving even at an old age, which should be exemplary to the youth.

“He has been determined even at his old age preaching peace, he has died while serving his nation, this should be a lesson to all Ugandans to work hard even at old age. Mzee Okae has died at the frontline,” said Tanna.

Tanna further added that the late Okae has been a statesman who would never betray his UPC party and has been a walking encyclopedia noting that his wisdom will be missed.

The body of the late Lawrence Okae will be laid to rest today, Thursday at his ancestral home in Gweri Sub County Soroti District.
