The acting National Organising Secretary of Alliance for National Transformation Alice Alaso has conceded defeat in the recently held Parliamentary elections.

Alaso squared off with NRM’s Hellen Adoa, the State Minister for Fisheries in the hotly contested Serere District Woman Member of Parliament seat.

Appearing on a local radio station today, 23rd January 2021, Alaso said that whereas the 2021 elections were not free and fair as expected her supporters need to concede defeat.

The former FDC Iron Lady also revealed that she will not be going to court to challenge Adoa’s victory saying the 2021 elections were better than the 2016.

“Although there was a lot of voter bribery during the entire process, I have decided to accept defeat and will not be seeking court redress,” Alaso said on radio.

In 2016, Alaso filed a court petition challenging Adoa’s victory but lost at the Court of Appeal.

In today’s revelation, Alaso said in 2016, there was a lot of evidence that enabled her file what she termed as substantial court case.

“In 2016, my supporter was killed while others were brutalized. We had evidence of voter bribery and intimidation among others. In this election, there was a lot of money that was used but I didn’t see my supporters being brutalized, so I won’t be going to court. I wish my sister all the best,” she said.

Alaso was trounced by Minister Adoa with a margin of over 30,000 votes.
