A group of boda boda riders in Mbale city attacked Mbale CPS last night 26th January, 2021 over the death of their colleague.
The boda boda riders were accusing police for shooting their colleague dead during curfew time operations last night.
According to the OC station, Arafat Kato, a group of boda boda riders around 9pm attacked the Mbale CPS destroying some things at the station.
Arafat told this website that the riders were wrongly accusing police for the death of their colleague.
He said the deceased got involved in an accident while running away from police officers who were on an operation at night.
“These boda boda riders were running away from police on operation and they got into an accident and one died on spot. No police officer shot any boda boda,” Kato explained.
Mr Abubakali Muzola, a boda boda spokesperson also confirmed Police’s assertion saying claims that police shot a boda boda last night was false information.
“I was at the scene; the deceased got involved in an accident while running away from police but he wasn’t shot as some people saying,” Muzoola said.
Hussein Wetaka, the boda boda chairperson Mbale City also blamed the boda boda riders who attacked the police station arguing that what his colleagues did was wrong because they knew the truth that police had nothing to do with the death of the boda boda rider.
“Attacking police was wrong because those who attacked police know the truth that their colleague died of accident but not a bullet.
