The Deputy Inspector of Police has seen the immediate transfer of the District Police Commander (DPC) Bukedea.
Major General Paul Lokech early this week ordered for the immediate transfer of Ezra Tugume after meeting a team of Bukedea elders led by the Bukedea County MP, Bosco Ikojo.
The meeting between the Ikojo led delegation and Deputy IGP was facilitated by Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of Parliament after Ikojo formally took his complaint to her office.
Sources who gave this website information revealed that after the meeting with Deputy IGP, the IGP requested to be given 24 hours to act.
“To our surprise, just 13 hours later, we received a communication that Tugume had been transferred,” revealed our source.
Tugume is facing cases of torture and continuous harassment of Bukedea County MP’s driver at the Police Standards Unit (PSU) Soroti.
Darlington Akabwai, driver of Hon. Bosco Ikojo accuses DPC Ezra Tugume of harassment and torture.
In a complaint filed at Soroti PSU branch under file reference number; PSU/SRT/GEF/01/2021, Akabwai accuses Tugume of arresting him and six others on Presidential and Parliamentary election date with no charges preferred against them.
Akabwai who is still nursing injuries he sustained from Tugume’s beatings in Kampala said he together with 6 colleagues were released the following day on police bond but without any charges preferred against them. They also did not record any statements.
On the 20th of January during the LCV, Mayoral elections, the same DPC again accosted Akabwai as he delivered Declaration Forms of one of the LCV aspirants for Bukedea district, Moses Olemukan.
Akabwai now wants the PSU to tell him what crime he has committed that DPC Ezra Tugume continuously harasses him calling him “My usual suspect.)
