MBALE CITY
Vendors at Mbale City Central Market are struggling to work in darkness with no power for one week now.
Jessica Mukhaye one of the vendors operating at the market says she has made losses of about three million shillings since electricity was cut off last week.
She adds that most of her merchandises like ice cream, milk, yogurt among other refreshments have now gone stale.
Samuel Wekesa, a saloon operator in the market says that since last week he has not worked on any client since electricity is his only source of power.
He urged the market executive to come up with an explanation about power shutdown yet they pay electricity bills in time.
However, Yusufu Nsubuga, the general secretary of Mbale central market attributed the problem to a transformer fault.
He said that the transformer which supplies the market with power got a fault last week but hastened to add that they have called UMEME engineers and they are currently rectifying the problem.
