The Uganda Police has warned those planning to hold Valentine Day Party’s that Police is going to arrest all of them for violating the COVID-19 guidelines.
Accordion to the Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police SP Patrick Onyango, “We have read, listened and seen several advertisements both online and traditional media advertising parties in different places like hotels, beaches and other open arenas to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2021. Ministry of Health guidelines still stand and the COVID19 instruments: The Public Health (Control of COVID-19) rules, 2020 that was put in place to fight the spread of Corona virus is still in operation”.
Onyango in an interview with this reporter further added that, “We want to warn the organisers of these parties to desist from breaking the law and stop advertising for the events. We appeal to members of the public to report to us any party or event that breaches the Corona virus regulations”.
Onyango has further warned the public to desist from attending Valentines party celebration saying police is ready to arrest them.
“Police also warns any person that will attend such events that they will be arrested for breaching the law,” Onyango said.
The Ugandan Government in late March 2020 placed a major lockdown in all happening places in a bid to curb the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his recent nation address to the country said that through the guidance from his health experts all happening places should remain closed because drunken people can’t maintain the required Ministry of health standard operating procedures.
The statement by the Head of State however, means that its will be illegal to operate a bar, club among others and those arrested according to police will be charged for spreading infectious and deadly disease.
