Bugwere
The fallen Bugwere king, Crysostom Wayabire will be laid to rest on the 20th February 2021.
The date of the burial was announced yesterday 13th February 2021 by the Minister of State for Culture, Gender and Labour, Peace Mutuuzo in a press conference at Uganda Media Center.
Mutuuzo hailed the fallen King for upholding the norms and values of our heritage. She said for that reason, the King was an armor that is irreplaceable.
“He has done a lot for the unity of the Kingdom. He has fought endless wars for this cause. How can we easily forget that,” she said.
Bishop Wayabire breathed his last on Sunday 7th February 2021 succumbing to the deadly Covid-19 virus.
Wayabire who had been King since 2015 becomes the third Cultural leader to die of Covid-19 in Eastern Uganda. The first was Umkhukha of the Bamasaaba, Bob Mushikori III and the Sabiny Kingo.
He has been considered a gallant fighter who stood for the norms and values of the Bagwere.
Wayabire died aged 64 years. He was born in Kenkube Sub County to the late Lawrence Myoya and Christine Myoya Naguti.
