Two children from Bukikoso village, Bukikiso Parish, Bubyangu Sub County in Mbale district have been burnt to death inside their parents’ house.
The sad event occurred yesterday morning when the parents had gone to tend to their garden.
According Nasulu Mulekwe, the father of the deceased, also LCI chairperson of Bukikoso village, the children aged 4 and 1 year were his.
He told this website he together with his wife left the kids still sleeping and went to their garden. However, on coming back home, they found their children and household property all burnt to ashes.
Abdul Busito Magidu, the LCIII Chairperson of Buyangu Sub County says that other house hold properties like mattresses, cups, and plates among others were also burnt to ash.
He blamed parents of the deceased for leaving children alone in the house with a paraffin local candle (todooma) lighting as this was the cause of the fire.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident saying police has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
