SOROTI CITY
A total of 80 People With Disabilities in Gweri County in Soroti district have today 21st April 2021 each received a donation of one sheep.
The donation is an initiative of O.J Disability Care Foundation in partnership with the U.K government under their currently ongoing program of the President Emergency Plan for HIV/Aids Relief (PEPFA).
According to Julius Opoi, the Executive Director of O.J Care Foundation, the donation is meant to increase on the households’ income of People with disabilities especially those who are in critical conditions.
Florence Asio, a councilor representing People with Disability in Gweri Sub- Sub County extended her vote of thanks to O.J Disability Care Foundation for the donation saying this support will now help them to improve their livelihood.
She revealed further that for over 10 years now, they had not received any support from any developmental partner apart from that of O.J Disability Care Foundation.
Gweri County has up to 1,226 people with disabilities of which 100 of them received a donation of 100 pigs from O.J Disability Care Foundation in the Year 2020.
However, Opoi cautioned the beneficiaries to remain united as people with disabilities and asked them to desist from unproductive ventures but focus on striving harder in order to achieve for the betterment of their children’s future.
