TIME UP! Minister Magyezi Orders Outgoing Local Gov’t Council Leaders to Handover

The Minister for Local Government has officially written to the current Local government Council leaders that their term of office is expiring on 12^th May 2021.

The letter dated 28^th April 30, 2021, Magyezi orders the outgoing leaders to prepare Hand-over reports to be submitted to the Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) or Town Clerks between 13^th and 20^th of May 2021.

The LCV Chairpersons will submit their Hand-over reports to the CAOs while the Mayors submit to their respective Town Clerks. Similar arrangements will apply to Division, Sub County and Town Council levels.

The term of office for the newly elected leaders will commence on 12^th May 2021 with the swearing in taking place between 13^th and 28^th of May 2021.

“The Chief Administrative Officers should make the necessary arrangements to ensure smooth and orderly hand-over and takeover of office. Swearing in new leaders will be between 13^th and 28^th May 2021,” the letter reads in part.
