The State Minister of Karamoja Affairs Hon. Agnes Nandutu has issued an ultimatum to Agro Max a Contractor contracted to implement projects under NUSAF 3 in Nabilatuk District to commence works or else face the law.

This follows concern raised by the Resident District Commissioner Milton Odongo on Wednesday during the Minister’s visit in Nabilatuk District, after over 1 billion shillings was paid to Agro Max under NUSAF 3 to implement 49 projects in Kosikei Sub-County in Nabilatuk District yet little is on ground.

The Hon. Minister expressed disappointment in the failure by the contractor to start the project in Kosikei yet it was paid 1 billion in November last year (FY 2020/2021).

She threatened to arrest the owners of the company if work is not commenced immediately since the project was meant to improve livelihood.

He tasked the District Police Commander to liaise with the office of the RDC to ensure that the contractor commences work immediately.

The Government through the Office of the Prime Minister paid Agro Max 1 billion in November last year to implement 49 projects meant to improve the livelihood of the community in Nabilatuk.

Some of the projects include; bee keeping, dairy farming, and vegetable farming among others.

So far land clearing has been done, opening of roads, demarcation of land and ploughing and tree planting.
