By Wetondo Denis Julius

High court sitting in Mbale yesterday 30th September 2021 dismissed an election petition with costs filed by Godfrey Nabutanyo against Isaac Modoyi, the current MP for Lutsekhe constituency in Bududa district.

Nabutanyo who was an Independent candidate in last election petitioned against Modoyi’s victory of NRM on grounds that his name, Isaac Modoyi Abudu doesn’t match with Isaac Modoyi on his academic documents and ID.

He also accused him of involving in malpractice which helped him to secure victory.

While reading the judgement, Andrew Basaija dismissed the petition saying that Modoyi proved that he had sworn an affidavit adding his name of Abudu which is allowed by law arguing that this couldn’t affect his academic documents as claimed.

The judge also said that the petition side failed to bring enough evidence to prove that Modoyi involved in malpractice.

Modoyi while speaking to the media at Mbale high court shortly after the judgement expressed his joy with the judgement saying he is now going to continue serving his people. He urged Nabutanyo to join him and work together for the development of Lutsekhe and Bududa at large.

Getting a comment from Nabutunyo was futile by press time since he was not even present in court and all his known phone numbers were switched off.
