The Solicitor General has guided that all the two claimants to the Umukuka seat were illegally elected.
His guidance was read to the 26 clan leaders attending mediation talks led by Ahmed Washaki, the Resident City Commissioner Mbale, yesterday 4th January 5, 2022.
The two claimants are John Amram Wagabyalire and Jude Mike Mudoma.
Inzu has been struggling for almost one year now to gazette its new cultural head (Umukuka) following the demise of the late Bob Mushikori.
In the meeting yesterday with 26 Clan leaders from Inzu ya Masaba, the chief mediator read a report from solicitor general to the members in the meeting and gave them the background of the elections for both parties before receiving the reactions and the way forward.
Meanwhile, Mr. Washaki guided that the clan leaders vote on who should be gazzetted among the two, 18 clan leaders voted that Mr. Mudoma should be gazetted while 7 preferred to nullify the whole process and go for fresh elections.
According to solicitor’s report, Jude Mudoma was elected 5 days to the end of term of office of late Mushokori and there was a court order blocking the elections but went ahead with the process. While Wagabyalire was elected after late Mushikori’s term had expired, so they were all illegally elected and none of them should be regarded as Umukuuka III.
Mr. Wobuya Difasi, Chairman Mumbo clan said Mr. Mudoma should be gazetted by the government because he was voted rightly and at a right time.
However, Mr. Walabukha Watsala Johnson chairman Sano clan, accused the RCC of not allowing him to talk in the meeting. He claimed that he raised his hand from the beginning but was not given chance by the chief mediator.
“The Minister of Gender instructed that you go back and find out how these two were elected, did they follow the law or not. According to solicitor general’s report, all were wrongly elected so they don’t qualify.” Mr. Walabukha said before adding that fresh elections should be conducted.
However when contacted, John Musila, one of the founders of Inzu Ya Masaba and at the same time the Member of parliament Bubulo East says Washaki is training an expert to ride a dead horse. He adds that the RCC is not more powerful than the minister who failed to reconcile the two fictions.
Musila said he is yet to lead a revolution to throw both sides out Of Inzu Ya Msasba because they are tired of their noise.
“We need to bring back the first Umukuka, Wilson Wamimbi to come and take over as they organize to elect more organized people.” Musila said.
