A religious group calling itself the Triple Six is giving Mbale district authorities sleepless nights as it decampaigns government programs.

The group does not believe in modern medicine, use of toilets/latrines, and formal education among others.

This came to light over the weekend when the Mbale District Health Officer, Jonathan Massa wangisi revealed that the group is interfering with their efforts to have people get Covid 19 vaccine.

Wangisi was speaking to religious leaders at Mbale District Headquarters in Maluku Lukhobo Hall on sensitizing believers about getting the covid 19 vaccination.

Wangisi revealed that they have got a hard time in convincing the triple six members to get vaccinated.

When contacted, Rev. Canon Titus Nelson Kutosi, the Elgon region chairperson of the Inter-religious Council said that triple six is not a member of the inter-religious council.

He added that the group has also given them hard time to identify where they stage their operations from. Kutosi also accuses triple six of tarnishing the name of the Inter-religious Council.

Meanwhile, the Resident District Commissioner Mbale District, Madam Nasike Asumin said through a telephone call that she is aware of the triple six group and that her office has kicked off investigations with her security team over the matter.

Efforts to identify the ringleaders of this group or where they operate from were fruitless by press time.
