AMURIA
The Inspectorate of Government has arrested the former District Local Government Speaker Amuria District for causing financial loss to government.
Charles Engoru Echemu was arrested this morning 20th January, 2022 for failing/refusing to refund Shs6, 486,064 to Amuria District Local Government being salary that he received over and above his statutory entitlement.
According to Munira, the IGG Spokesperson, Echemu is being indicted because it is believed he was aware that the omission would and indeed caused financial loss to the government.
Echemu is being moved to the Anti-Corruption Court today and is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow Friday, 21st January 2022.
