The burial program for the deceased Teso Cultural Leader, Papa Augustine Osuban Lemukol is out.
According to the program, the burial will take place on 14th February 2022 with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni being the Chief Mourner.
Other leders expected to grace the sendoff include H.E, the Vice President Jessica Alupo Epel, FDC’s Patrick Oboi Amuriat and former Candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye, DP’s Party President, Nobert Mao and NUP’s Bobi Wine (Kyagulanyi Ssentamu).
The Emorimor breathe his last on Saturday 5th, 2022 while in Mulago National Referral Hospital where he was getting treatment from after he was transferred from Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.
The burial date was a decision reached at by the organising committee yesterday 06th February, 2022 at Parliament.
The Committee consists of different members like the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Jessica Alupo Epel, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Anita Among, the National Vice Chairman NRM for Eastern Uganda, Capt. Mike Mukula and Papa Ekirigi Dr. Augustine Omare Okurut.
The death of Papa Emorimor was announced by the ICU Prime Minister, Augustine Omare.
“Papa emorimor the Iteso cultural leader today’s evening here in Mulago hospital in Kampala passed on, I can’t tell of other preparations but rather will urge the public to take heart and stay calm as other communications will be communicated later, we pray for his soul to rest in peace”, papa Augustine Omare the ICU prime minister said in an interview with a local media house on Saturday.
Teso Leaders Mourn the Emorimor
Hon. Anita Annet Among (@AnitahAmong) the deputy speaker of parliament and the woman MP for Bukedea district Tweeted that,
“It is with deep sadness that I got the news of the passing on of our father, the Emorimor Papa Osuban Augustine Lemukol from Mulago National referral Hospital. My deep sympathies to his family, the Iteso people and the Country at Large. May the Lord see us through this tough time.”
The National Vice Chairman for the Ruling NRM party in Eastern Uganda Capt. Mike Mukula has also in a tweet posted that “It’s with deep sorrow that we communicate the demise of our cultural leader PAPA EMORIMOR LO ITESO who has just passed on in mulago national referral hospital, Further communication will be made later.
His Highness Emorimor of Iteso, Papa Augustine Osuban Lemukol was born in 1934, enthroned in April 2000 and died in February, 2022 aged 88.
