NAMISINDWA

The Town Clerk of Bubutu Town Council in Namisindwa district, Ronald Nakhaima has been locked out of his office by the LC3 chairperson, Moses Mutambo.

According to Mutambo, yesterday councilors during council meeting passed a resolution to lock the office of the Town Clerk today, 2nd March 2022 for failing to account for 50 million shillings which was given to the town council by ministry of local government as startup fund.

He adds that all new town councils were given that money to use for renting or constructing buildings where the town council offices should operate from and other activities. He argues that they have not seen what this money has done in Bubutu Town Council.

The LCIII also says that they have tried several times to ask the town clerk about the work which that money did but he answers arrogantly saying political leaders need not know how Town Council money is spent.

Mutambo explains that the lack of accountability and arrogance is what prompted them to pass a resolution yesterday to lock him out of office until the district transfers him.

Nakhaima when contacted by this reporter to give a comment declined saying it’s only the District Chief Administrative Officer allowed to speak to the media.

By press time the office was still locked.
