Kapchorwa Residents Demonstrate over Poor Health Services

By Weswa Ronnie

Residents of Kaserem Sub County in Kapchrowa district this morning, 23rd March, 2022 held a peaceful demonstration by closing the facility and offices of the health workers over poor service delivery at Kaserem health centre III.

Moses Cheputayi, one of the resident, says that health workers report on duty at 10.am or 11.am and leave at 2.pm.

He adds that this has affected them in terms of getting services since most of the patients like expectant mothers and children lack treatment and die due to delay of health workers to come and then leaving early.

Betty Chemogo, the speaker of Kasere  sub county, also accused the health centre  leaders for always extorting between 100,000/= to 200,000/= from expectant mothers who are transferred to Kapchrowa hospital using government ambulances.

She also expressed her disappointment with health workers at the facility for always absenting themselves at work leaving patients stranded.

However, Musa  Kapclemut, the in charge of Kaserem health centre III says that out of ten health workers he has at the facility , 6 are females with five on maternity leave.

He adds that the few who are available can’t handle the 700 patients they receive daily, urging the government to recruit more workers.
