RACE FOR SPEAKER: Minister Adoa Rallies Colleagues to Let Anita Among Go Unopposed

The State Minister for Fisheries and Woman Member of Parliament for Serere District, Hon. Hellen Adoa has urged her colleagues in Parliament to let Hon. Anita Among go unopposed for position of Speaker.

Speaking to this reporter on phone from Dar-es- Salaam this morning, 25th March, 2022, Adoa said the NRM Party Flag bearer for Speaker of Parliament should be allowed to go unopposed.

Adoa is in Dar-es-salaam attending a regional meeting for Agriculture and Food Security.

“I want to wish my sister well and pray those standing with her would allow her go unopposed,” Adoa said.

The Legislator from Serere argues that Anita Among has steered the 11th Parliament from start since the then Speaker was off and on due to heath related issues.

She has also thrown her weight behind the NRM Party Flag bearer for Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa.

“Tayebwa is fit for the position of Deputy Speaker because as Government Chief Whip, he demonstrated hard work,” Adoa said.

Adoa is however unhappy that she will not be physically present to cast her vote for the two but is optimistic they will win.
