The usual urge to quench his lust for alcohol saved a Serere district man from a devastating lightning that killed his entire household.
Musa Ogagul of Ojomai village, Iruko Parish, Kadungulu Sub County in Serere district was the lone survivor when lightning struck his grass thatched hut on Friday 25th March 2022 killing his two children and wife.
According to ASP Ageca Oscar Gregory, the PRO East Kyoga the trio identified as Otala Ivan, a male juvenile aged six years, Ogagul Elvis male juvenile aged three years and Abao Agnes female adult aged 24 and mother to the two deceased kids met their death about 7:00pm.
Ogagul meanwhile had gone to the nearby trading center to drink the local brew ‘ajon’ when the fatal lightning struck.
“I only survived this lightning because I had gone to the nearby trading center to drink,” a tearful Ogagul told mourners.
Ageca in a press statement, said the Police of Kadungulu police station visited the scene as part of police social responsibility and condoned with the bereaved family.
“We further would like to advise the public to install lightning rods or lightning conductors that’s mounted on buildings, and structures since it’s intended to protect structures from lightning strikes,” he added.
