MBALE CITY
Business operators on the north road lane in the Northern city division have given DOTT Services a period of one week to remove stagnate Sewage wastes in front of their business premises lest they call for the a peaceful strike.

In the interview carried out by this reporter yesterday, 22nd April 2022, the business owners blame the poor works of DOTT services limited for failing to work on one road thoroughly before getting to another.
Dr Dominic Waburoko, the director of St. Martin’s clinic located on North Road Lane says they have totally lost business due to the poor works taking place by the Dott services.
He also says Dot services have gone on and opened a sewage system opposite Masaba wing located at mbale regional referral hospital and failed to control the over flowing feaces on the road.
He adds that their works are paralyzed since most of their clients come to the clinic critically using ambulances and vehicles.
“It’s is a rainy season, we stand a big chance of getting an outbreak of cholera and other different killer diseases since the feaces is moving and mixing with the different streams around the City like Nabuyonga River which are used by most people in Mbale,” Waburoko said.
“We gave them two weeks and one week is now over if our matters are not worked on, we promise to hold a peaceful demonstration to the city chambers since the people in charge are quiet,” Waburoko added.
Salim Nabongo, owning a shop dealing in plastic says since the works started, he has lost all clients due to the bad smell around the shopping place.
He says that they are at the risk of suffering from diseases they don’t know because when it rains, the situation gets worse.
He adds that DOTT Services personnel appear on the site twice in a week and on each day they work for a single hour and go away.
“When I asked them why they perform their works slowly, they responded to me that the machines they would use on constructing the same road are down due to lack of spare parts,” Nabongo said.
Sulaiman Magona, another shop owner on the Lane says that by next week if there is no change, he will join the peaceful strike because they have failed to sell their food in the hotels because of the bad smell.
However when talked to, the city public relations officer, Kutosi James says that they are aware of the situation but before the works started, they told all business people about what was going to take place.
“We told them that you are going to be slightly affected before we get a good town but the issue of the feaces, I will talk to the contractors to increase some speed and work on the sewage systems a soon as possible.
