BREAKING! Fire Guts Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo’s Supreme Court Offices

The office of the Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo at the Supreme Court in Kololo, Kampala has caught fire this morning.

 

The fire that is said to have started at about 10:00am this morning was however put out by the police fire brigade that responded promptly.

 

According to an eyewitness, the fire started at the third floor where Owiny-Dollo’s offices are situated.

 

Another eyewitness, an unidentified staff at the Supreme Court, the fire started immediately she opened the door leading to Owiny Dollo’s office.

 

“Immediately I opened the door and switched on the lights, I heard an explosion and then the fire started,” she said.

 

At the time the fire started, Justices Eldard Mwangusha and Mike Chibita had just arrived for the day’s work.

 

Meanwhile the premises have been cordoned off by Counter Terrorism Unit of Uganda Police Force.

 

The cause of the fire is not yet confirmed.
