The security force of the Uganda defense force and Uganda police force  have retrieved an assortment of explosives that included bullets, bombs and one grenade in Kasoka parish, Bukedea sub county in Bukedea district.

The explosives were recovered yesterday evening 4th May, 2022  when an old woman who was digging in her garden found the threatening materials buried in her anthill.

The security team refused to expose her name for security purposes.

Hajji. Imran Mugalu, the Resident District Commissioner said the explosive items were retrieved with the support of the third division commander who sent a team of experts to recover the explosives.

“When an old woman learned of this explosives, she decided to report to police, police intervened and cordoned the place after observing that the items are dangerous, the division command was notified who later assigned us to the zonal commander”, said Imran.

Imran also added that retrieving the explosives, the experts urged residents to be calm in the area.

However, he also urged residents to report any kind of threatening material in the area to police for necessary support.

“When you report such matters to police, the government considers awarding such people certificates so this old woman is going to be remembered”, said Imran.

Charles Micheal Opolot, the LCIII chairperson of Bukedea Sub County, says such a thing has happened in his area for the first time.
