SOROTI CITY
The Soroti East Mayor also National Mobilizer for Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party Paul Omer has launched a new campaign strategy dubbed ATTAN 02 aimed at reclaiming the lost victory of Soroti City MP Moses Okia Attan.
During the Launch of the strategy at Soroti City East Division Offices on Thursday May 26, 2022, Omer said that the new strategy is one of the few FDC strategies that they are going to use to win the polls.
In the new strategies Omer aims at house to house massive mobilization and also bottom to top approach.
“As FDC, we have over 100 strategies for winning elections. The new strategy I am launching today hasn’t been tried anywhere but we are launching it in Soroti. We wanted to use it in Omoro but we decided not to use it. NRM is a funny party, they can copy our strategy to suppress us,” He said.
He added that ATTAN 02 is a mixture of 5 strategies that the party was planning to use.
“We are going to show NRM that Soroti City is for Blue not Yellow. I heard that they are already scared and Ariko is deciding not to run but whoever they are going to present we shall defeat them,” He added.
Omer also called on the Voters of Soroti City East to stay calm and called for peaceful polls.
He also appealed to the NRM supporters to play mature politics and not politics of hatred and bloodshed.
On Tuesday May 24 2022, the three Justices of the Court of Appeal Justice Cheborion Barishaki, Stephen Musota, and Christopher Gashtrabake declared the Soroti City East seat vacant and ordered that the Judgment, Decree and orders entered against the Appellants by the learned trial Judge save for the award of costs are confirmed and upheld. We would accordingly find that this issue is inconsequential and could have no bearing on the decision of the trial Judge.
They ordered that “Fresh elections for the position of directly elected Member of Parliament for Soroti City East constituency be conducted by the Appellant in a legally constituted constituency.”
The Electoral Commission is yet to release a proper roadmap and the election date for Soroti city East Bi-elections.
