MBALE CITY
The Public Accounts Committee has pinned the former Mbale City Mayor, Zandya Mutwalib and the Town Clerk then for illegally selling off the City’s old garbage truck.
Zandya and Paulo Batanda were picked out in the PAC committee sitting at Mbale City Chambers on Friday 27th May 2022.
Betty Naluyiga, the Wakiso Woman MP who was heading the committee in Eastern region said that the garbage truck was illegally sold in 2020 during the regime of Zandya as Mayor and Batanda as Town Clerk.
Naluyiga warned that the duo must come out within one week to account for the truck or risk being arrested.
However, Zandya when contacted dismissed the allegations saying that the truck in question was sold during the era of Joseph Kibowa who was the town clerk before he came into office.
“This people are just tarnishing my name before the public which is not good,” Zandya said.
