AYABAAS! Masaba Cultural Institution Backs Minister Mutuuzo on Arrest of Elgon Festival Organizers over Nudity

Masaaba cultural institution has come out to condemn the parading of half naked young girls last weekend at Mbale secondary school play ground during Elgon festival 2022.

This week, Minister of State for Gender and Culture, Peace Mutuzo and women activists condemned what happened and ordered police to arrest people behind Bana Basha and Bamasaba tourist initiative who were behind the arrangement of Elgon festival 2022.

While speaking to Media today 18th June, 2022 at Masaba cultural institution offices located at Malukhu ward Industrial city division in Mbale city, Erick Mukhwana the public relations officer of Masaba cultural institution said that as the institution they condemn what happened in the strongest terms.

He adds that what happened was outside their culture because it’s not good for a girl at adolescence or any mature person to show his or her nudity in public.

Mukhwana also added a voice to ministers and women activists about calling for the arrest of people who were behind the arrangement of this event.

Michael Mafumala, the vice chairperson of the cultural council at Masaba cultural institution dismissed the allegations in the media that Masaba cultural institution was part of the organization.

He adds that Masaba cultural institution was ignored during the arrangement of that festival which is bad because they would have given advice.
