State House Anti-Corruption Unit has kicked off investigations on six Butebo District Local Government Bosses on allegations of misappropriation and poor accountability of project funds.

In a letter dated 27th June, 2022, the Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Brig. General Henry Isoke summons the District Engineer, District Water Engineer, District Chief Finance Officer, District Procurement Officer, District Internal Auditor and the Clerk of Works.

The six have been summoned to report to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit’s CID office at 4th Floor, President’s Office on the 8th of July, 2022.

The projects under investigation are Butebo District headquarters construction project whose Shs1.4 billion budget has been exhausted yet the building remains incomplete, Kachuru Seed Secondary School under implementation, six boreholes and a Health Center III.

The investigation follows a red flag raised by a section of local Leaders and residents of the district in the month of May, 2022.

“The allegations are premised on the fact that most government projects in the district have stalled and taken too long to be completed inspite of government having sunk a lot of funds into them, which raised suspicion of lack of value for money, inflation of projects materials cost and irregular procurement practices,” reads the summons letter which this website has seen reads in part.
