28 Year Old Killed, Dumped Along Nakatunya Ward Trench, Soroti City

It was a somber mood on Sunday, 3rd July 2022 in Malinga cell, Nakatunya ward Soroti city west when residents woke up to a shock of discovering a lifeless young man identified as Edmund Eboyu, a resident of Amen ‘A’ in Agama Ward Soroti City West lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

Eboyu was discovered dead and dumped in the trench along the street to Nakatunya mortuary, a few meters away from Jasmine hotel.

 

Paul Opige, one of the residents who also doubles as the local council one chairperson for wire cell, a nearby cell to Malinga’s said the body was discovered in the morning by the community members and road users.

 

Bernard Edibu, a brother to the deceased said he last spoke to his brother on Saturday at 5pm when he had called him requesting for his trowel.

 

“He called me saying that he wanted to use my trowel in the morning today (Sunday) to repair his house, me I was at work. So I went home and never saw him but people say he was seen at the center in Amen there,” he said.

 

Edibu said the deceased had a wife and one boy of 4 years but separated with the wife.

 

James Enaru, the youth chairperson Agama ward said they played ludo with the deceased at Echelu center in Amen A and left them playing with other people by 9:30pm when they were talking of going clubbing at strikers.

 

“I know him, we come from the same clan. They were talking of going clubbing at strikers by the time I left them playing at the center there but he has been a person of high integrity, he never had issues of indiscipline,” he said.

 

Kokas Echelu, the Area councilor Nakatunya ward in Soroti city west described the deceased as a well behaved young man in the community. “I am their neighbor and that center is at my home that’s why it’s named after me, he has been a good young man around, it’s sad,” he said while sobbing.

 

The deceased was working at the Swahari, an Indian based hardware branch in Nakatunya opposite Amar petrol station.

 

George William Emau, the manager of the said hardware said the late first worked together with him in the main hardware branch in town before the Nakatunya branch was opened.

 

He described him as a committed young man and well disciplined.

 

“I would just come to supervise them in Nakatunya but yesterday (Saturday) the hard ware shop was closed, they did not work,” he said.

 

Police were yet to make a report on the cause of the death by press time.

 

By press time, his lifeless body had been taken to Nakatunya mortuary by police at Soroti city west pending postmortem.
