A total of 9,223 people in Teso sub region and Lango sub region have benefited from hand pump boreholes donated by Uganda Breweries Limited.

Among the beneficiary districts in Teso sub region are Bukedea, Katakwi and Kapelebyong district.
In the Lango sub-region, Oyam district and Lira district are the beneficiaries.
Andrew Kilonzo, the Uganda Breweries Managing Director yesterday July 5th, 2022 during the joint commissioning held at Rock view village, Aluwa parish in Kolir Sub County in Bukedea district said the Uganda Breweries constructed 20 hand pump boreholes: ten for Teso sub region and ten for Lango sub region.
He said all the works cost a total of 560 million Uganda shillings as a result to the country losing 400 people daily from water borne diseases like diarrhea, cholera and typhoid among others due to lack of access to safe water.
“Uganda breweries limited uses water and majority of people consume our products, so we are doing this as give back to the community with the Uganda’s vision 2040 which identifies human capital development as one of the fundamentals that needs to be strengthened to accelerate the country’s transformation, and investing in sanitation and hygiene is one way through which we shall achieve this transformation, through this project”, said Mr. Kilonzo.
Moses Olemukan, the district chairperson Bukedea, who was joined by Kapelebyong district chairperson, Akorikin and Katakwi district Chairperson, Geoffrey Omolo said access to safe clean water has been a big challenge in all the communities and Uganda breweries limited has tried to address some of it.
“We want to thank Uganda Breweries Limited for the great support rendered to our communities both for Teso and Lango”, said the District chairpersons.
Hajji Imran Muluga, the Resident District Commissioner Bukedea who represented the chief Guest, Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament Anet among Anita said the commissioned project demonstrates tremendous progress towards aiding the government in prioritizing the development of the nation’s human capital under the national development plan III.
“I want to appreciate Uganda Breweries Limited for the work they have done and for being a true corporate that transforms lives of so many people through this project,” said Mr Imran.
Meanwhile, the community was overwhelmed to receive the water source.
