Bukedea:
Women in Kidongole Sub County in Bukedea district have discovered a total of six explosives yesterday July 6th, 2022 buried at the swamp bordering Kotolut village and Kamacha village in Kumi district.
The explosives were discovered as fish women were trying to source for mad fish in the swamp.
According to the eyewitnesses, at first they saw four stringed items looming on water which made them make an alarm until one of the community members intervened and advised them to not to move near nor tough.
“We were busy trying to harvest mad fish, but we were shocked to realize a stringed item on water”, said a witness.
Samuel Okurut, the sub county chairperson Kidongole Sub County who doubles as chairperson security in the sub county immediately alerted police who later informed Mbale bomb squad.
“When I was called, I informed police who later called Mbale bomb squad, we at first discovered four bombs, but when we continued on the same point we recovered more two, totaling all to six explosives”, said Okurut.
Okurut also added that it’s the first of its kind to happen in his area of jurisdiction.
However, the recovered explosives were taken by Mbale bomb squad soldiers for further management.
