The school administration of Apuuton Primary led by the head teacher, Moses Ekunyu has instructed the security at the Gate to bar journalists from covering a meeting attended by district officials to hear a case of defilement of a P5 young girl of 14years by a school teacher, Mr. Okello Romanos of the same school.
Romanos is from Apapai village of Kapujan Sub County but he is on the run.
According to the reports, the meeting is attended by the LC5 Katakwi Hon. Omolo Geoffrey, Katamba Geoffrey the RDC Katakwi, the CAO Katakwi, deputy DISO, DPC, probation officer, Bosco Okiror the inspector of schools, secretary education, Hon. Irene Among, Hon. Raphael Ojakal the district councilor for Usuk, and the town clerk Mr Joseph Okure.
Two heavy Askaris were placed at the gate under the orders of the school administration and it took 30minutes for the struggling journalists to gain access.
“We can’t allow you in because, the media reported an issue of defilement at our school” One security guard said.
Sam Emukoki, the father and Grace Amayo a mother on Thursday 7th July 2022 reported to CPS Katakwi after they learnt that their daughter (names withheld) was pregnant.
Mr. Okello Romanos is reported to have been luring the girl for love affairs during and after preps.
However, media later got in with force after the Car of intelligence team arrived at the Gate and the intervention of the RDC.
The fully updated media houses that had come as early as 8:00am to seek for the entrance at the school were bounced.
The RDC Katakwi District Mr. Katamba Geoffrey instructed the media to enter and seat for the meeting without any fear.
“There’s no way we can refuse the media to be part in this meeting because they are the fourth estate and they do more mobilisation in this country” RDC Katamba.
