Namisindwa Chief Administrative Officer has cautioned parish chiefs from different sub-counties against considering working class people in the Parish Development Model programs.
Franco Olabaro sounded the caution yesterday 11th July, 2022 while speaking to parish chiefs and the LCII chairpersons who were receiving their data collection allowances.
According to Olabaro, government is mainly targeting low-income earning peasants who are going to benefit through being supported in agriculture and small scale businesses.
Olaboro also says that in previous government programs both technical and political leaders were in the habit of collecting money from rich people and considering them and leaving out the poor which he said should not be the case this time.
David Mityelo, the Namisindwa District Production Officer also the Parish Development Model Focal Person urged the parish chiefs to work with local leaders at the parish and village level such that they consider only groups of low-income peasants.
He adds that they want the daily income of low-earning people by 2025 to increase as targeted by the government.
He revealed that each parish chief was entitled to be paid over 200,000/= and LCIIs 50,000/= as data collection allowances in the last financial year but it was pushed yesterday because their respective sub-county chiefs delayed to submit reports to his office.
Fred Masaba, the Buwabwala parish chief from Buwbwala sub-county and Willy Namenda from Bukhabusi sub-county expressed their happiness with the pay saying it was going to empower them to implement the program in their respective parishes.
