SOROTI CITY
Business and traffic were brought to a standstill in Soroti city yesterday, 18th July 2022 after FDC candidate, Moses Attan Okia was nominated.
From Opuyo to the central business streets in Soroti city, a procession of thousands of blue boys and girls chanting FDC slogans as they dance to mixed political campaigns songs were uncontrollable in terms of traffic.
Women danced, ladies danced, men danced and the youths danced towards the city roundabout where the crowd divided with some storming the venue for after nomination speech at Arrow square.
Others followed the convoy of the duly nominated candidate Moses Okia Attan who was in the company of FDC’s party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi, party secretary General Nandala Mafabi, Soroti city woman MP Joan Alobo Achom, Ann Adeke Ebaju Soroti District Woman MP and Ngora Woman MP Stella Isodo, Gilbert Olanya the Kilak South County MP in Amuru and Julius Peter Emigu Olem of Ochero County in Kaberamadio moving all-round the city central business areas.
Thereafter a whole team stormed the venue for the maiden speech from the FDC leaders.
During introduction, the former independent candidate for Soroti City West Simon Peter Ebitu Etwerere joined the (FDC party) ‘blue’ Soroti city boys and girls.
The FDC party President Patrick Amuriat Oboi in his speech asked the voters to defend their victory during the polling day.
“This is a big number and we must defend it, in the whole history of Soroti, this is the biggest support you have shown an MP and therefore we must defend this by turning up to vote in large numbers,” Amuriat said to the crowd.
Amuriat told voters that there may be attempts to bribe them with money but they should not allow money to lead them during polling day.
Meanwhile the FDC MPs who were present vowed to spend the entire campaign in Soroti to ensure that the party becomes victorious.
Attan was nominated yesterday the 18th July 2022 by EC Soroti city and today the 19th July 2022 Herbert Edmund Ariko NRM flag bearer and Five others shall all be nominated.
